(Dallas, TX) — William Brown Miller Elementary kicked off the day with an inspiring celebration of literacy during a Book Vending Machine Unveiling Ceremony, welcoming students, staff, partners, and community members to campus for an event full of Viking pride, energetic cheers, and meaningful moments.
The Miller community’s warmth was felt from the start. Special thanks to Principal Scroggins, Ms. Rutledge, Ms. Davis, ED Simmons, Dr. Shelton, and all of the incredible Miller Vikings who attended the ceremony. From the powerful speeches to the joyful excitement on students’ faces, the event highlighted what makes Miller such a special “home” for learning.
The celebration culminated with students using gold coins to select books from the new vending machine—building their own home libraries and reinforcing the idea that reading can be both empowering and fun. Access to high-quality, age-appropriate books helps strengthen literacy skills, supports academic confidence, and encourages reading for joy.
This milestone was made possible through the continued partnership of Atmos Energy, whose long-term commitment to Dallas ISD students continues to expand access to books and literacy resources across the district. Each book vending machine reflects Atmos Energy’s investment in student success and brighter futures.
