Dallas Education Foundation is partnering with Walmart, donating $25,000 to support Dallas ISD’s middle school athletics and the district’s Educator of the Year program.
This gift will directly benefit students at 29 middle schools across the school district, providing them with brand-new athletic equipment.
“We are deeply appreciative of Walmart’s commitment to our teachers and students that will make a real impact on daily classroom experiences and ensure that sports are accessible to all,” said Tom Brandt, executive director of Hillcrest Vertical Team. “By addressing the specific needs of teachers and students, Walmart is building a foundation of support for future leaders, educators, and athletes.
The grant was presented at Benjamin Franklin International Exploratory Academy with special guest Omar Gonzalez, a Dallas ISD alum and professional soccer player, in attendance.
“Walmart is proud to support the Dallas community by providing valuable resources for both teachers and students,” said Maggie Sans, vice president of community relations at Walmart. “Through this initiative, we are thrilled to give back to educators, celebrate their dedication, and foster student leadership and camaraderie through sports and play.”
Additionally, Walmart recognized ten teachers from Dallas ISD’s Educator of the Year program, who were selected for their commitment to teaching excellence.
“On behalf of the Dallas ISD community we serve, we are grateful to Walmart for their district-wide investment in our students and teachers,” said Mita Havlick, executive director of Dallas Education Foundation.
