(Dallas, TX) — The Pizza Hut Foundation, in partnership with the iconic Book It!® reading program, has awarded a $9,750 Slice of Literacy Grant to Dallas Education Foundation, recognizing the organization’s outstanding commitment to promoting literacy in Dallas ISD.
The grant supports the Pizza Hut Foundation’s goal to expand the Pizza Hut Book It!® reading program through additional literacy-focused initiatives. The Book It!® program, which has inspired generations of young readers for over 40 years, continues to fuel literacy efforts nationwide through customer donations and community partnerships.
The grant will fund the installation of a book vending machine, providing students with regular access to high-quality, age-appropriate books they can take home and keep. This investment helps build students’ home libraries, encourages reading for joy, and strengthens literacy outcomes during the critical early years of learning.
“We’re incredibly grateful to the Pizza Hut Foundation for this investment in our students,” said Emily Davis, Grants and Programs Manager at the Dallas Education Foundation. “A book vending machine does more than provide books. It creates excitement around reading and gives students ownership of their learning. This grant allows us to bring that experience to a school where access to books can make a lasting difference.”
The Pizza Hut Foundation’s Slice of Literacy Grant Program supports nonprofits located within 15 miles of a Pizza Hut restaurant that are actively working to improve literacy outcomes in their communities.
