(Dallas, TX) — At Dallas ISD’s Edwin J. Kiest Elementary School, students are getting an exciting introduction to robotics, coding, and hands-on STEM learning thanks to Saraid Driskell’s Heart of Teaching grant.
Through the school’s enrichment program, students are building and programming robots, giving them the opportunity to learn foundational coding skills in a fun, interactive way. As they work through challenges and bring their robots to life, students are strengthening problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.
Experiences like these do more than teach technical skills. They help students see themselves as creators, innovators, and future leaders in science, technology, engineering, and math.
By making STEM learning engaging and accessible at an early age, this grant is helping inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists. Students are not only learning how robots work, but also discovering how coding and design can be used to solve problems and turn ideas into reality.
