Dallas ISD Teachers Recognized With Texas Instruments Foundation Innovations in STEM Teaching Award

(Dallas, TX) — On Wednesday, February 25, Dallas Education Foundation joined Dallas ISD leaders, campus communities, and partners to celebrate some of the district’s most inspiring educators at the Texas Instruments Foundation Innovations in STEM Teaching Award Ceremony.

The event honored outstanding teachers who are helping students build the skills and confidence to thrive in science, technology, engineering, and math. From hands-on experimentation to real-world career pathways, these educators are creating innovative, high-quality learning experiences that will shape student futures for years to come.

Each Innovations in STEM Teaching Award recipient receives $5,000 in recognition of their achievement, along with an additional $5,000 to support either classroom needs or professional development, helping teachers expand STEM learning opportunities for students.

A Partnership Creating Citywide Impact

Dallas Education Foundation is deeply grateful to the Texas Instruments (TI) Foundation for their continued partnership and commitment to Dallas ISD. Through this program, the TI Foundation has supported 126 STEM educators across the district since 2007 through 2025—an investment that continues to make a measurable difference for tens of thousands of students throughout Dallas.

We also extend sincere thanks to Andy Smith, director of giving and volunteering at TI and executive director of the TI Foundation, for his ongoing support, and to Lynn McBee, whose guest remarks reinforced the importance of STEM education from both a scientific and advocacy perspective. Dallas Education Foundation is proud to have both Lynn and Andy serving on our board, championing opportunity and innovation for students.

“Excellence in STEM education means more than delivering content—it means adapting to every learning style; encouraging hesitant students; celebrating breakthrough moments; and making STEM subjects come alive,” said Andy Smith. “The 2025 Texas Instruments Foundation Innovations in STEM Teaching Award winners are preparing students for careers that don’t yet exist, teaching them to solve problems we haven’t encountered, and empowering them to build a better future for all of us.”

How Teachers Are Selected

Awardees are nominated by their campus principals, highlighting educators who demonstrate innovation, impact, and excellence in STEM instruction. Winners are selected through a review process that evaluates nominees’ instructional leadership and the ways they create meaningful STEM learning experiences for students.

The ceremony was also strengthened by the presence and leadership of Angie Gaylord, Chief Academic Officer, Elena S. Hill, Deputy Chief Academic Officer, and Dallas ISD leaders who continue to push excellence across the district—work that is paying off in meaningful and measurable ways.

Special appreciation goes to the entire Dallas ISD STEM Team for organizing a memorable celebration and for their year-round work supporting STEM teaching and learning. Their behind-the-scenes leadership helps turn great ideas into classroom realities.
