Continuing its commitment to advance literacy across the district, Dallas Education Foundation is partnering with NEC Corporation of America.
Through this collaboration, seven book vending machines have recently been installed across Dallas ISD. These schools are:
- Cesar Chavez Elementary School
- Marcus Leadership Academy
- Oran M. Roberts Elementary School
- Cedar Crest Elementary School
- Jill Stone Elementary School at Vickery Meadow
- T.G. Terry Elementary School
- J.P. Starks Math, Science and Technology Vanguard
Designed to motivate students, reward their hard work, and build foundational literacy skills, these machines provide an opportunity for every child to earn books and take them home for free.
“The vending machine will have a positive impact on our students as we focus on literacy,” said Krishaunda Ivery, Principal at T. G. Terry Elementary. “We have identified there is a need to build reading fluency and stamina on our campus. Having books available for our students to earn will help increase their excitement and love for reading.”
NEC’s generous support brings the Dallas Education Foundation one step closer to reaching our goal of having a book vending machine in every Dallas ISD elementary school.
